A Nanovirus is a virus on the nanitic scale. (VOY: "Unimatrix Zero, Part I")
Nanoviruses were created twice by the crew of the Federation Starship Voyager. One of these times was during the Borg-Species 8472 War, when The Doctor created a nanovirus against Species 8472. This was responsible for the destruction of many bioships and the death of many members of Species 8472. The nanovirus was created with the assistance of the Borg.
