New Earth was an unpopulated M-class world situated in the Delta Quadrant. Its land-mass was covered in dense forest, and resembled Earth in many ways.

The name of the planet was coined by Captain Kathryn Janeway and Commander Chakotay in 2372, when they were forced to leave the USS Voyager and live on the planet because of a rare viral infection that they'd contracted.

Kathryn and Chakotay set up a modular shelter to serve as a permenant home. Although these facilities were basic, they were in keeping with their low-tech environment.

Animal life

The planet was host to at least one non-sentient life-form, which resembled a Terran monkey.

Weather

The ambient temperature was sufficient to allow outdoor bathing for at least a part of the year. The planet differed from Earth in that plasma storms occured randomly in the upper atmosphere.
