New France was a Federation colony near Deep Space 9.
In 2369, when a software lifeform known as "Pup" threatened the station, Jadzia Dax tried overloading the stations computers. While attempting this she ordered the opening of subspace links to the New France colony and also to the Nehru colony and the Corado I transmitter array. (DS9: "The Forsaken")
The New France colony was apparently named for the country of France.
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 47, New France was located in the New France system, in the Alpha Quadrant. This was a binary star system. Primary was a Class K star. It had a magnitude of +1, which was 100 times brighter than Sol. Stellar companion was a Class G star. By 2378, this colony had become a member of the United Federation of Planets.
