New Orleans was a major port city on the Gulf coast in the state of Louisiana, United States of America. The city was famous for its French Quarter that contained, among other attractions, Jackson Square and Audubon Park. The Template:ShipClass of starship was named after this city in the 24th century. History

In the 19th century Frederick La Rouque was born here. (TNG: "Time's Arrow")

This city was identified on a political map of the Northern Hemisphere. This map was accessed from the USS Enterprise library computer by the Talosians in 2254.

The city was the birthplace of various members of the Sisko family, including Benjamin Sisko (in 2332), and was the location of Sisko's, Joseph Sisko's creole restaurant. (DS9: "Equilibrium", "Homefront", "Paradise Lost", "Image in the Sand")

For the first few days of his time at Starfleet Academy, Ben Sisko would travel from San Francisco to New Orleans for evening dinner. (DS9: "Explorers")

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine itself was announced at a NATPE convention in New Orleans. [1]

The script for the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Move Along Home" describes the Chula game section that Benjamin Sisko started in had archways that "reveals the depth and breadth of the continuing labyrinth... like looking across a courtyard in a New Orleans hotel."
