In one possible timeline, the Nihydron are a space-faring species native to a region of space near the Krenim Imperium. In 2374, three Nihydron warships joined the USS Voyager in its attack on the Krenim temporal weapon ship. B'Elanna Torres and Harry Kim were assigned to work with the Nihydron to implement temporal shielding aboard their ships. (VOY: "Year of Hell, Part II")
- The Nihydron warships were later reused as Species 10026 warships, which could mean the two species are one and the same. Should that have been the case, the timeline resulting from the final Krenim manipulations apprarently left them too weak to fight the Borg, as they were assimilated in 2375
