The Taris Murn inside null space

Null space is a naturally cloaked region of space, filled with condensed turbulent magnetic and gravitational fields. All energy is bend around the region.

Before 2368, the existence of null space was only theoretical. First known encounter was made in the J'naii star system, where an irregularly shaped null pocket of space was discovered. It absorbs all electromagnetic energy from anything that enters it. The pocket has a stabile shape that was mapped with photon pulses. The inside of the phenomenon is flooded with bright light. The annular confinement beam is affected in ship-to-ship transports inside the anomaly. As a result, transports usually require several attempts.

A team of J'naii specialists and William T. Riker formalized a hypothesis on the origin of this type of null space pocket. According to the hypothesis under certain conditions when the clouds of interstellar dust and gas coalesce during the creation of a star system, these null space pockets can form naturally. Geordi La Forge further theorized the size of the pocket to be linked to the rate of energy absorbtion within and that the rate of absorbtion might not be constant within the anomaly. Null space can also be used as a means of transit. A graviton catapult submerges a spacecraft into null space. Upon emerging back to normal space, the ship has traveled many hundreds or even thousands of light years in mere hours. When used this way, an unprepared ship is more likely to encounter system overloads, not energy absorbtion. In 2376, the crew of Tash's starship had created a catapult of this type. (VOY: "The Voyager Conspiracy")

Presumably the graviton surge of the graviton catapult creates the null space the spacecraft is sent hurtling through.
