A nut is a part of a plant formed as a seed, and often used as food by other lifeforms. In biology's strictest definition, a nut can only be formed by certain families of fruit-bearing plants, although in a culinary definition a nut can refer to any oil-bearing plant seed or pod.

A variety of ice cream, Trip Tucker's favorite, called Rocky Road consists of chocolate ice cream, chocolate chunks, marshmallows, and nuts. (ENT: "Oasis")
