For the division at the United Earth Starfleet, please see ODIN.
For the similarly named Trill symbiont or Japanese soup, please see Odan or Oden.
"Her wish is not my command, and neither is yours. You can't force us to go."
"Mister Ramsey is correct, Counselor. The Odin was not a starship, which means her crew is not bound by the Prime Directive. If he and the others wish to stay here, there is absolutely nothing we can do about it."
– Ramsey and Data, 2357 ("Angel One")

The Odin was a 24th century Federation freighter.

In 2357, the Odin was disabled by a collision with an asteroid. The freighter's four surviving crewmembers, led by Ramsey, drifted for five months in three of the ship's escape pods until they reached the nearest M-class planet, Angel I. The Odin was declared overdue for the next seven years.

In 2364, the starship was discovered, abandoned in space, by the USS Enterprise-D. Because it was a Federation freighter and not a part of Starfleet, it was not bound by the Prime Directive. (TNG: "Angel One")

Personnel[]

This starship was only mentioned in dialogue.
In an internal list of starships, from 26 September 1990, the Odin (spelled as "Oden") was identified as an Apollo-class starship with the registry number NGL-12535. [1] This source material was used for the entry on the Odin in the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 100). The authors added SS to the ship's name.
The ship was presumably named for Odin, the creator and supreme deity in Norse mythology; see also: Woden.
