Operation Watson was the first attempt by Starfleet Communications to successfully create a communications link between Earth in the Alpha Quadrant and the USS Voyager, 30,000 light years away in the Delta Quadrant in 2378. It involved bouncing the signal off a quantum singularity, and provided a live link for eleven minutes each day.
