Organia was an inhabited M class planet near the Federation-Klingon border and the homeworld for the Organians, a non-corporeal species.

History

In 2267, Organia was the only class M planet located in the disputed region of space between the Federation and Klingon Empire. Due to its strategic location, Organia became the focal point of the First Federation-Klingon War, which eventually led to its invasion by the Klingons, led by Commander Governor Kor. (TOS: "Errand of Mercy")

In 2293, the location of the Neutral Zone in the Milky Way Galaxy was depicted on the Federation star chart The Explored Galaxy. This chart was first seen on aboard the starship USS Enterprise-A. In the 2360s, the chart was seen again at Starfleet Headquarters on Earth, aboard the USS Enterprise-D, in a courtroom in the Starfleet outpost Starbase 173, and in a classroom on the space station Deep Space Nine. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country; TNG: "Conspiracy", "The Measure Of A Man", "Emissary"; DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets")

The starship GS 12, under the command of Captain H. Ellison, visited Organia on the way to Deep Space 9, where they arrived on stardate 47557.1. (DS9: "Whispers", display graphic)

In 2372, Worf told Kor that Kor's confrontation with James T. Kirk on Organia was one of many stories about him he had heard since he was a child. (DS9: "The Sword of Kahless")

Organia appeared in the starchart Data and Picard were studying in Stellar Cartography in 2371. (Star Trek Generations, display graphic)

The location of Organia was depicted on a star chart in astrometrics on USS Voyager in 2376. (VOY: "Child's Play", display graphic)

In the alternate reality, the conflict that spurred the creation of the Organian Peace Treaty occurred before 2259. In that year, according to a map seen on a powerwall in the office of Admiral Alexander Marcus, the Organians had a presence on Earth. They were located over the San Francisco Bay. Appendices

Background information

In its original appearance, Organia was represented with a generic planet model that was also used to depict other planets including Alfa 177, M-113, and Gothos. In the 2007 remastered version of "Errand of Mercy", Organia was represented by a unique, digital planet model.

In the "The Explored Galaxy" star chart, Organia was located between the Tholian Assembly and Romulus. Both were identified in DS9: "Call to Arms" as being located in the Alpha Quadrant.

According to Star Trek Maps (chart D), Organia had a moon called Sais.

According to Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 54, 57, 64, "United Federation of Planets III"), Organia was located in the Organia system. In 2378, there was a quarantine on the planet. The Organia system was located in or near Klingon space. The star Organia was a G-class star with a magnitude of +7, which was 1/10 the brightness of Sol. This system was in proximity to the disputed border of the UFP (2152-2267).

Information on this planet was on a graphic seen in the office of Admiral Alexander Marcus. The name "Organia" appeared in context with a designation and a label, quadrant commander on a map of the San Francisco Bay. It's not clear what is being communicated here. [1]
