Ari bn Bem-colony creature

Ari bn Bem, a Pandronian colony creature.

Pandronians are a species of colony creatures native to planet Pandro. The Pandronians made first contact with the Federation in early 2270.

As colony creatures, Pandronians exist as a cooperative being made up of discreet organisms. Consequently the concept of an individual holds a unique meaning for Pandronians who refer to the colony as "this one" instead of the more expected "I" used by most humanoid species. The separate organisms that constitute a unique Pandronian may also, over the course of time, "disassemble" and reassemble with other creatures creating a new colony and effectively terminating the existence of the previous unique Pandronian.

The individual organisms of a Pandronian are autonomous to a large extent. All parts are mobile on their own, through both bipedal locomotion and a form of levitation which has not been fully explained.

Pandronians are typically of comparable height to Humans and Vulcans. They have green skin with tufts of red hair, large eyes, and a slightly down-turned mouth.

Young Pandronians are referred to as "egglings". (TAS: "Bem")

There was a similar species in the 1979 - 1980 Buck Rogers TV series episode"Journey to Oasis". The character, Arom Duvoe was played by actor Mark Lenard.
