Engineer aboard the Enterprise-E in 2373. When the ship followed the Borg back to Earth in 2063, Porter was left in charge of main engineering whilst Geordi La Forge and alpha team were on the surface. La Forge asked Porter to check the environmental controls but on his way he was assimilated by the Borg. (Star Trek: First Contact) He was apparently the first crewmember onboard to be assimilated.
