Photonic charges

Photonic charges being fired from a transdimensional realm

Photonic charges were a type of variable-yield photonic weapon utilized by various cultures, including Starfleet and the Kazon-Nistrim.

Usage

In 2372, Seska ordered a Kazon-Nistrim raider to deploy a spread of photonic charges at twenty percent nominal yield to disable Chakotay's type 8 shuttlecraft. (VOY: "Maneuvers")

In 2375, photonic lifeforms from a transdimensional realm utilized photonic charges to launch an attack against the holographic forces of Doctor Chaotica, a villainous character in Tom Paris's Captain Proton holoprogram. Believing Chaotica and his forces to be actual lifeforms due to their photonic nature, the photonics waged an all-out assault against him, until convinced to cease their attack by the crew of the USS Voyager, so they could defeat Chaotica and end the conflict. (VOY: "Bride of Chaotica!")

In 2376, the EMH of the USS Equinox, who was masquerading as Voyager's doctor, planted photonic charges throughout the holoprojectors of Voyager's sickbay, as insurance in the event he were discovered. When confronted by Voyager's doctor, he threatened to set the charges off, but was deleted by The Doctor before he could take action. (VOY: "Equinox, Part II")
