Plak tow can be translated literally as "Blood fever." It is the final stage of Pon farr, charactarized by a combative nature. High fever is another symptom of this condition. Normally a Vulcan in this state will be unable to speak or think clearly. T'Pau was surprised when Spock approached her to ask that Kirk not be brought into the combat. (TOS: "Amok Time")
