Template:Realworld RTÉ (Radio Telefís Éireann) was the official national broadcaster of the Republic of Ireland. RTÉ encompassed several radio stations and two television stations. The broadcaster was funded by both advertising revenue and a "TV License" system.
RTÉ showed Star Trek: The Next Generation during the 1990s, in full, except for the episode "The High Ground" which was regarded as politically sensitive in Ireland and the United Kingdom. RTÉ also showed Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to and including "The Siege" and the first series of Star Trek: Voyager; both were dropped because of apparent low ratings. The broadcaster also has the rights to some of the Star Trek films.
