Rator III was the third planet in the Rator system. This planet was located along the Romulan side of the Romulan Neutral Zone.
In 2269, a Vendorian posing as Captain James T. Kirk ordered the USS Enterprise to Rator III, at the request of Carter Winston, who urged the survival of the planet's entire population was dependent on the Enterprise's soonest possible arrival.
In reality, Carter, was the previous identity of the Vendorian, who was working as part of a Romulan ruse to seize the Enterprise. (TAS: "The Survivor")
According to Star Trek: Star Charts, the Rator system was a binary star system. Rator A was a K class star with a magnitude of +3, which was ten times brighter than Sol. Rator B was a K class star. (pg. 61)
In Star Trek Online, a new capital for the Romulan Star Empire was established on Rator III following Romulus' destruction in 2387.
