Ensign Reel was an command division Starfleet officer serving aboard the USS Enterprise-D, under Captain Jean-Luc Picard during the mid-2360s.
Reel manned the conn when the Enterprise-D received a distress call from the Federation science station on Ventax II and layed in a course to the planet. He was also on duty on the bridge when the woman who claimed to be Ardra took a seat in the captain's chair. (TNG: "Devil's Due")
He passed Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge and Doctor Leah Brahms in a corridor. (TNG: "Galaxy's Child")
Together with a female science officer he played a game of three-dimensional chess in Ten Forward when Reginald Barclay interrupted the game and made the final move. (TNG: "The Nth Degree")
Reel attended the hearing of Captain Picard in the interrogation room presided by Admiral Norah Satie. (TNG: "The Drumhead")
He passed Captain Picard and Lwaxana Troi in front of the transporter room. (TNG: "Half a Life")
Reel shared a drink with Nelson and other crewmembers in Ten Forward when Beverly Crusher told Deanna Troi about her feelings for Odan. (TNG: "The Host")
In late 2367, Reel served as the flight controller when the Enterprise-D was escorted to Qo'noS by the IKS Bortas. Later, while in orbit of Qo'noS, when the Bortas came under fire, by ships loyal to the House of Duras, Captain Picard ordered Reel to plot a course away from the combat area. Reel was also one of the crewmembers standing in a row in the corridor to the transporter room to bid farewell to Worf when he left Starfleet to fight in the Klingon Civil War. (TNG: "Redemption")
Reel was also working on the bridge when a fleet of Starfleet ships formed a blockade to stop the Romulan supply ships under command of Sela in early 2368. (TNG: "Redemption II")
He manned the conn again in early 2368 when the Enterprise-D went with warp 9 to Melona IV to help Commander Riker and the away team. (TNG: "Silicon Avatar")
Off duty he met a science division officer in Ten Forward when Worf met his mother Helena Rozhenko at the bar (TNG: "New Ground") and when Guinan talked to Clara Sutter at the bar. (TNG: "Imaginary Friend")
Reel was doing push-ups in his quarters in late 2368 when a [phase]]ed Ro Laren ran through him being chased by Romulan officer Parem. (TNG: "The Next Phase")
