Reg E. Cathey (18 August 19589 February 2018; age 59) was the actor and voice actor who played Klingon commander Morag in the Star Trek: The Next Generation sixth season episode "Aquiel".

Outside of Star Trek, he is probably best known for his recurring role as Warden Martin Querns on the HBO series Oz and his role as Freddy Hayes on House of Cards, for which he earned an Emmy award and two further nominations. He had previously worked on the PBS series Square One TV with Larry Cedar.

Cathey appeared in an episode of Spenser: For Hire, starring Avery Brooks. In 2002, Cathey appeared in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent with fellow Next Generation guest star Olivia d'Abo, and in 2005, he co-starred with Gerrit Graham in an episode of Third Watch. He has also had a recurring role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Cathey had a recurring role as Norman Wilson in The Wire (co-starring Idris Elba, Sonja Sohn, Robert Wisdom and John Doman).

In 1995, he appeared in the made-for-TV movie Tyson, along with Paul Winfield, James B. Sikking, and George Murdock. Five years later, he appeared in Homicide: The Movie, co-starring Ed Begley, Jr. and Michelle Forbes.

Cathey had a number of feature films to his credit. Two of his more prominent film roles were in movies based on comic books: The Mask (1994), which featured Christopher Darga and Robert O'Reilly, and Tank Girl (1995), co-starring fellow Star Trek alumni Lori Petty, Malcolm McDowell, Charles Lucia, Jeff Kober, Ann Cusack, and Iggy Pop. He also appeared in Seven (1995) and American Psycho (2000).

Among his other films are Funny Farm (1988, also featuring Kevin Conway, Mike Starr, William Newman, Dan Desmond, David Williams, and Dakin Matthews), Born on the Fourth of July (1989, with Ed Lauter, Richard Poe, Bob Gunton, Mark Moses, and Mike Starr), Loose Cannons (1990, with Ronny Cox, Leon Rippy, Thomas Kopache, and Brad Greenquist), Clean Slate (1994, with Olivia d'Abo, Brad Blaisdell, and Ian Abercrombie), Clear and Present Danger (1994, with Harris Yulin, Raymond Cruz, Vaughn Armstrong, and Elizabeth Dennehy), Airheads (1994, with Michael McKean), and S.W.A.T. (2003, with Bruce Gray).

Cathey died on 9 February 2018 at the age of 59 following the diagnosis of lung cancer. [1]
