René Auberjonois was born on June 1st 1940 in New York City. He is best known for portraying Odo in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He also directed many episodes of the series.
His mother was Princess Laure of Murat, who was descended from Joachim Murat, one of Napoleon Bonaparte's generals and Caroline Bonaparte, Napoleon's sister.
Rene starred as Col. West in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Aside from his Star Trek appearances, Rene has also starred as Father Mulcahy in the original film "M*A*S*H", Reverend Oliver in the 2000 film, "The Patriot" and Dr. Burton in the 1995 film, "Batman Forever". He also gained fame on television as the snooty Clayton Endicott III on the series "Benson" (a series in which actor Ethan Phillips, Neelix of Star Trek: Voyager, also co-starred). He also played many animated voices, including such series as "Tales of Dark Water" and "Batman: The Animated Series". Currently, he stars alongside William Shatner in the series "Boston Legal."
