Benzite respiration devices were devices used by the Benzites to supplement the air they breath. On Benzar, the Benzite homeworld, there are many rare gases that are important to the respiration of the Benzites. Because most other Federation members do not have these gases, Benzites needed to wear a respiration device to add the needed gases for Benzite respiration. By the mid-2370s, however, the use of these devices fell out of use as medical breakthroughs allowed Benzites to breath normally without the use of the respiration device.
