In 2353, James was listed on a directory placard as having an office in room 35258 on Starbase 32. (TNG: "Violations", directory)

In 2363, Captain James was listed as a representative for Advanced Technologies Division on the dedication plaque of the USS Phoenix. (TNG: "The Wounded", dedication plaque)

Later that year, James was a member of the Engineering Group which helped design and construct the USS Enterprise-D. His name was listed on the second version of the plaque. (TNG: "Silicon Avatar", dedication plaque)

In 2365, James was the commanding officer of the USS Constantinople. His name was listed on the Starship Deploy Status chart that was on display in the courtroom of Starbase 173. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man", okudagram)
