Robert Gist (16 June 192421 May 1998; age 73) was an actor and later director, primarily for television. He directed the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "The Galileo Seven".

He directed episodes for such series as The Twilight Zone, The Untouchables, Dr. Kildare, Mission: Impossible, and Hawaii Five-O. He also directed Original Series actor George Takei in An American Dream (1966).

Gist was also an actor, appearing in Miracle on 34th Street (1947, featuring Jeff Corey), Strangers on a Train (1951), Angel Face (1953, starring Jean Simmons and Kenneth Tobey), The Band Wagon (1953, also featuring Julie Newmar), and Operation Petticoat (1959, with Madlyn Rhue). Other films in which he appeared include Jigsaw (1949, with Marc Lawrence), Scene of the Crime (1949, with Norman Lloyd), The Naked and the Dead (1958, with William Campbell and Grace Lee Whitney), and Al Capone (1959, co-starring James Gregory, Nehemiah Persoff, and Ron Soble). He also appeared in episodes of Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Have Gun – Will Travel, and Peter Gunn, and even had a regular role on the series Hennesy (co-starring Meg Wyllie).
