Robert L. McCullough is a producer, writer and director who worked as producer on the last ten episodes of the second season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also wrote the story for the second season episode "Samaritan Snare" and together with David Assael the teleplay for the episode "The Icarus Factor". In a piece of set decoration signage on Starbase 515, the character Doctor Robert McCullough was named for him, seen in the episode "Samaritan Snare". McCullough was interviewed by Patrick Jankiewicz for the February 1993 issue of Starlog, article "Man & Pakled".

McCullough wrote the stories for episodes of The Bionic Woman (1976-1977), Eight Is Enough (1977-1978), The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo (1979), Galactica 1980 (1980), B.J. and the Bear (1979-1981), Falcon Crest (1981-1984, starring Robert Foxworth), Hollywood Wives (1985, with Joanna Cassidy and Mary Crosby), Highlander (1992), Zorro (1990-1993, starring Duncan Regehr and Henry Darrow), Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1993), Baywatch Nights, JAG (1996), Pacific Blue (1996), and as developer on Soldier of Fortune, Inc. (1997-1999, starring Mark Sheppard and Melinda Clarke). He also wrote the teleplay for International Airport (1985), the screenplay and story for Dark Mansions (1986), and the television drama Time Out for Dad (1987).

While McCullough worked as story editor and executive story consultant on B.J. and the Bear (1979-1980) and Falcon Crest (1981-1982), he was the creative consultant on JAG (1996-1998). As producer he worked on Falcon Crest (1982-1984), Hollywood Wives (1985), the three television movies he wrote the story for, and the television series Ohara (1987), Zorro (1990-1993), High Tide (1994-1997), and Soldiers of Fortune, Inc. (1997-1999).

His credits as director include an episode of Falcon Crest (1984, with Robert Foxworth), an episode of Fathers and Sons (1986, with Nicholas Guest), and six episodes of Zorro (1990-1992).
