The Romulan military is associated with the Romulan Star Empire. Members of the military train at the Imperial War College alongside members of the Tal Shiar, the separate intelligence agency of the Romulan government. (TNG: "Face of the Enemy")
Commander Konsab, a military history instructor at the Romulan Intelligence Academy, spoke of his opinion of the difference between the Romulan military and the Tal Shiar as the main theme in his classes. He believed the necessity of military personnel to trust one another contrasted with the Tal Shiar's tendency to distrust their associates. (TNG: "Face of the Enemy")
