Template:Realworld Ron Jones has written musical scores for many episodes in the first four seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as the video games Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and Star Trek: Starfleet Command. He was fired under controversial circumstances near the end of the fourth season of TNG, supposedly because his music was thought to be "too noticeable" by Rick Berman. Jones has since been a major critic of Berman-era Trek (Cinefantastique magazine, Oct. 1993); he cited the music of the subsequent Trek spin-offs as "less melodic and more pad-like."[1] Furthermore, he thought the theme for Enterprise should have been for the opening ceremonies of the WNBA. [2]

Jones has also composed for dozens of other television series, including Magnum, P.I. and Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy, as well as such family fare as The Smurfs, Disney's DuckTales and Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, and The Fairly OddParents, for which he also composted the theme song.

His score for "The Best of Both Worlds" and "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II" was widely praised as the best music for TNG, and was released as an album afterwards. For the 100th episode of Family Guy, he reprised the ending of the track entitled "Captain Borg" for the parody to "The Best of Both Worlds" cliffhanger. The episode entitled "Stewie Kills Lois" was written by four-time Enterprise writer David A. Goodman who used this spoof to pay tribute to the 20th anniversary of The Next Generation.
