Rubindium crystals
Rubindium is an element found in crystalline form, presumably artificial crystalline form, used in subcutaneous transponders and, presumably, laser cutting torches. It is apparently radioactive, as from what little description has been provided of it, it seems to serve as the main power source for such transponders.
While Captain Kirk and Spock were imprisoned on Ekos in 2268, Spock used rubindium crystals from the transponders implanted in their arms to improvise a crude, makeshift, and primitive laser cutting torch to escape. (TOS: "Patterns of Force")
