Sal Amendola

Template:Realworld Sal Amendola (born 1948) is an Italian comic book artist. He began in 1969 working with Dick Giordano at DC Comics, eventually becoming his assistant editor. While there, he did colors, letters, and began penciling and inking some stories. When Giordano left DC in 1972, Amendola moved to Marvel where he worked as an associate editor. Arter a short time, he returned to DC and was able to publish a Batman story "Night of the Stalker" which was nominated for an ACBA award. Another notable issue he worked on was the adaption of the third Superman movie with Curt Swan.

In 1974, he began teaching at the school he graduated from in 1969, New York School of Visual Arts. In the early 1980s also began teaching at the Kubert School until 1988 when he began teaching at the Fashion Institute of Technology, all the while continuing his position at the School of Visual Arts.

In the industry itself, he was an editor and talent coordinator at DC from 1983 and 1986. He also worked as an assistant editor and production staffer at the company. In addition to his work with "the big two" companies, he wrote and contributed art to a number of issues published by Archie Comics between 1974 and 1976 and again in 1987 after leaving DC Comics.

In the early 1980s, he worked on two issues of DC's first Star Trek series, inking one entirely, and the cover of the second.
