Ben Sisko, San Francisco Giants cap

Benjamin Sisko sporting Giants teamwear

The San Francisco Giants were an American professional baseball team, formerly known as the New York Giants, until they moved to San Francisco during the latter half of the 20th century.

In early 2375, Benjamin Sisko wore a San Francisco Giants baseball cap during the Niners team practices, in preparation for the holosuite baseball game against the Logicians. (DS9: "Take Me Out to the Holosuite")

Real-life former San Francisco Giant Kenny Lofton is the uncle of Trek actor Cirroc Lofton.
Avery Brooks has said that, while he does not have a favorite baseball team per se, he considered that "the greatest ball players have played for San Francisco." Indeed, Willie Mays, who played for the Giants in New York and San Francisco, is generally considered one of the best players of all time. [1]
