The Saurians were a species of intelligent lizards. By the mid-2270s, Saurians were serving in Starfleet.

Background

In 1980, Mego released a 3¾" Saurian action figure as part of its second series; the company inadvertently called it a Rigellian. [1]

In an article appearing in the January 2002 edition of Star Trek: The Magazine (Volume 2, Issue 9), entitled "Who is that Alien?", the following information from Robert Fletcher's original background notes added:

"These were a lizard-like people who were very intelligent and made excellent officers. They had the unusual ability to breathe several different gases, which made them useful members of landing parties. They were also very strong and had four hearts."

Sauria (Psi Serpentis) was the name of a trinary star system in the Alpha Quadrant. The primary was a Class G star. Magnitude of this star was +1, which was 100 times brighter than Sol. Both of the stellar companions were Class G stars, too. Sauria was the name of a planet in the system. too, and had, by 2378, become a member of the Federation. In Star Trek Online, Saurians are one of the playable Federation species, and a Saurian named Aennik Okeg is the current Federation President.
