Secarus IV was the fourth planet in the Secarus system.

In 2345, the Albino retreated to a fortified compound on this planet after he escaped from Kang, Kor, Koloth, and Curzon Dax on Galdonterre.

In mid-2370, Kang learned of the Albino's location and traveled to Secarus IV. When Kang arrived, the Albino immediately contacted him, offering Kang a proposal. The Albino offered Kang, as well as Koloth and Kor, one last glorious battle against forty of his finest sentries.

Three months later, the three Klingon warriors, along with Jadzia Dax, returned to Secarus IV to finally face the treacherous Albino. After successfully destroying the compound's armory and power station, the Albino was confronted and killed, fulfilling the Klingons' blood oath and their eighty-year quest. (DS9: "Blood Oath")

Background information[]

The planet's name is not from the episode. Rather, it is from the script

The Secarus IV exteriors, showing the Albino's fortress, were filmed on location in Pasadena, at a large house designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion (p. 132)) A matte painting was incorporated into the exterior footage. (Captains' Logs Supplemental - The Unauthorized Guide to the New Trek Voyages, p. 72) The interiors of the fortress were built on Paramount Stage 18 and an additional shot, depicting the building's walls being blown out, used a miniature which Dan Curry's team of visual effects artists did atop Paramount's Van Ness parking structure. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion (p. 132)) "The optical people blew up [the] miniature, and it looked fabulous," commented David Livingston. "It was a tabletop miniature with fake trees and little bushes and when it blew up it looked like something out of Lethal Weapon." (Captains' Logs Supplemental - The Unauthorized Guide to the New Trek Voyages, p. 72)

The Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 260) classified Secarus IV as a class M planet.

According to the script, the planet's name was pronounced as "sec-A-rus". [1]
