Sector 30 was a region of Federation-controlled space located near the Romulan Neutral Zone. In 2364, five Federation outposts in this sector, including Science Station Delta-05, were destroyed by a then unknown enemy. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")
It was believed that the Borg were responsible for the destruction. (TNG: "Q Who?")
