Chalash was a historic figure in the Tellarite culture.
Chalash was noted as the second liberator of the Tellarite people which had occurred before 2161. Captain Jonathan Archer made reference to Chalash in a speech he made at the signing of the Federation charter. Before delivering the speech, Archer had difficulty pronouncing the name correctly.
