In 2000, he co-wrote and co-produced Day One, a sci fi pilot for The WB Network. He has been involved with the development of numerous pilot scripts under his deals with The WB, Granada Entertainment and Paramount Pictures.

Prior to his television work, Shawn traveled the independent film festival circuit as producer of Too Pure (MaxMedia, Austin Film Festival, Tokyo Film Festival, and the inaugural Tribeca Film Festival), Oakland Underground (Chicago Film Festival) as well as the short films No Insurance (L.A. Film Festival 1999) and The Lonely Leave, based on the Dorothy Parker short story of the same name.
