Sonya Gomez was a 24th century Starfleet ensign, a junior engineer serving under Geordi La Forge aboard the Federation starship Enterprise-D.
It was Gomez's goal to serve on the Enterprise for years. Geordi expresses appreciation for her excitement, and expresses that she could be of better service if she learned to relax a little. Shortly thereafter she spilled her hot chocolate on Captain Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG: "Q Who?")
She later assisted in the rescue of Geordi from his captors aboard the Pakled transport, Mondor. (TNG: "Samaritan Snare")
Background
Gomez was played by Lycia Naff. In Pocket Books' Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineers series, Gomez appears (in the post-Dominion War era) as the executive officer of the series ship, USS da Vinci, rank of commander. These stories are not part of filmed canon, so they may not reflect the intentions of the studio creative staff.
