Southern baked beans

Spock eats some Southern baked beans.

Southern baked beans were a McCoy family recipe that extended several generations and well into the 23rd century. Leonard McCoy was handed down the recipe from his father.

The recipe was made from beans, combined with various ingredients and baked.

During a shore leave-camping trip to Yosemite National Park, in 2287, McCoy warmed up a batch of his famous beans over the campfire. Spock was impressed by their taste, noting that they were "surprisingly good", but that he was not familiar with one of its flavorings. This was revealed to Spock to be the "secret ingredient", which was Tennessee whiskey. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

In an early draft of the script, McCoy's "secret ingredient" was Kentucky bourbon.
