The series tells the story of the resumption of Starfleet's exploration of the Gamma Quadrant following the end of the Dominion War, with Elias Vaughn commanding the Defiant on the mission with Julian Bashir, Ezri Dax and Nog among his crew. The series also deals with the process of Bajor's entry into the Federation.
These Haunted Seas, an omnibus edition of the first two novels, was released on June 2008.
