Star Trek: The Official Motion Picture Adaptation is a six-issue comic miniseries from IDW Publishing, adapting Star Trek, and including material cut from the final film, as well as dialogue present in the novelization (such as young Spock giving the filmmakers' inspiration for his later relationship with Kirk as a learning pit answer, or the older Spock's "self-repairing timeline" theory when told by Kirk that all but one of his future shipmates is already aboard the Enterprise). The depiction of Spock Prime's explanatory mind-meld with Kirk also incorporates the story of the prequel comic Star Trek: Countdown, including images of Picard and Data.

A trade paperback collection of the miniseries was released on 6 October 2010.
