Starbase 55 was a Federation starbase administered by Starfleet.

In 2364, the commander of this base was Commodore Bill Marafe. Early that year, during a stopover, the USS James Fennimore Cooper received an order from Captain B.J. Hunnicutt of Starfleet Operational Support Services. In accordance with the order, the ship picked up personnel from the base, set a course for a rendezvous with the USS Discovery, and transported the personnel over to this ship. In the same year, Commodore Marafe sent an order about the reassignment of personnel to Captain Diana Giddings of the USS Robert Louis Stevenson. (TNG: "Conspiracy", okudagram)

Five years later, in 2369, this base was the destination of the USS Enterprise-D following the discovery of a Dyson sphere. (TNG: "Relics")
