Steven Anderson (born 24 November 1955; age 68) is the actor who appeared as Nilrem in the Star Trek: The Next Generation fourth season episode "First Contact". He filmed his scenes for "First Contact" between Friday 7 December 1990 and Tuesday 11 December 1990 on Paramount Stage 16.

Anderson has been a character actor for over thirty years, mostly on television. His work includes roles on such series as The Bob Newhart Show, Wonder Woman, Three's Company, China Beach, Murphy Brown, ER, and Baywatch, as well as a recurring role as a prosecuting attorney David Hawkins on Matlock (1989-1990).

Among his feature film appearances is the 1979 thriller When a Stranger Calls, in which he played Carol Kane's husband in the film's final scenes.

More recently, Anderson appeared on Boston Legal with Star Trek alumni William Shatner and René Auberjonois where he played Walter Seymore in five episodes between 2004 and 2008. Further credits include guest parts in Desperate Housewives (2010, with Teri Hatcher, Brenda Strong, Jeffrey Nordling, Miguel Perez, and Greg Haines) and NCIS (2011, with Raphael Sbarge) and a supporting role as Phil in the romance Language of a Broken Heart (2011).
