Surak (cabin)

The Surak (V8 5047 01102238345-8) was a 23rd century Vulcan long-range courier. The Surak has a detachable "cabin", capable acting as an independent craft from the primary warp-capable "sled". The entire craft was approximately 48 meters in overall length.

In 2272, the Surak transported Commander Spock to rendezvous with the USS Enterprise from planet Vulcan when the Enterprise was sent to intercept V'Ger. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)

Surak model

A model of the Surak.

Wesley Crusher kept a model of a similar shuttle in his quarters aboard the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D). (TNG: "The Dauphin")

Background

The Surak was designed by Andrew Probert and appears, in principle, to be a precursor to the runabout. The shuttle was, of course, named for the Vulcan philosopher Surak.
