Background Information

  • Production for the initial season of Star Trek cost almost US$200,000 per episode. But this figure would gradually decrease in the two seasons to come.
  • For some reason, Desilu Productions never copyrighted the episodes in the first season. Even when Desilu was sold to Paramount in 1967, the first season episodes were not copyrighted until 1978. [1]
  • The first season of TOS was nominated for two Emmy Awards in 1967 as "Outstanding Dramatic Series" and "Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Drama - Leonard Nimoy".
