Talgonite was a ceramic alloy that could be used in constructions, including spaceborne installations. It is considered to be far less sophisticated than the metal alloys widely used by Humans from the 20th century onward.

The Kataan probe that was encountered by the USS Enterprise-D in late 2368 was composed of paricium and talgonite. (TNG: "The Inner Light")
