Meeting[]

The meeting from this episode needs a name and page. Jaf 14:40, 26 Nov 2005 (UTC)Jaf

Godfather reference[]

Is such a reference appropriate for an article? In my opinion it shouldn't be unless there is a cited mention that it was intentionally made similar(as with "The Nagus"), otherwise the episode articles could get bogged down with similarities.--31dot 21:26, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

I completely agree. Being similar does not necessarily mean it was an homage, and those are the only times we should make such references, assuming it's citable. --From Andoria with Love 15:33, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
I put in an citation request in case it was done deliberately, though I don't recall reading that anywhere. If someone knows that it is not deliberate, it should be totally removed.--31dot 15:44, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Totally removed? is that different from ordinary removal? I put the reference in after watching the episode and reading the Nagus reference, there is no citation in the Nagus page for the conclusion that it was an intentional reference. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind it is an intentional homage as there are too many similarities: an attempt to bring warring factions together, around a big round table surrounded by windows, actually being a set up by the person behind the person who organized the meeting to kill everyone in the room? I have no way of confirming if it was an intentional reference as I don't have the box set or companion so delete it if you wish, I just thought it was a helpful reference, I didn't expect such a hysterical reaction to one line. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.1.172.188 (talk).

I would hardly call my reaction "hysterical", it was a legitimate concern and not worded hysterically. Many things in Star Trek are similar to other TV and movie references, but that doesn't mean it was deliberate. If we loaded down the episode pages with such references that were not done deliberately, the pages would be very long.
While there might be "no doubt in" your mind, that's not how this site is run. There are many aspects of Star Trek that I think are a certain way, but others do not. That is why most things need a citation from a production source. Your gut instinct, or mine, or anyone else's, is not enough.--31dot 01:12, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
