Is there anything in The Fight that definitively disproves the possibility that Anthwara is Chakotay's grandfather, such as Chakotay saying he was a child when his grandfather's mental health problems became serious? It's a stretch, but it's it possible that in Journey's End, his mental decline was only mild and did not inhibit his duties as a community leader, and only became serious very shortly after the events of Journey's End. Chakotay's experiences with his grandfather in bad health, along with the death of his father and his decision to join the Maquis, all would have occurred in the 8 or 9 months in between Journey's End and the beginning of Star Trek: Voyager.
I know this all just speculation, but it's at least worth mentioning in background information the coincidence that they're played by the same actor and come from the same planet.--75.120.254.179 01:38, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

What kind of lifespan is supposed to be typical for these Native Americans? They're humans from Earth, and Anthwara refers to the time that's passed since the Spanish re-occupied New Mexico after the Pueblo Revolt (a little less than 700 years) as "23 generations", suggesting he's defining a generation to be somewhere around 30 years. But Anthwara also says that his own father was alive (and old enough to weigh in with an opinion about whether the group should leave Earth) 200 years prior to the Journey's End episode. 76.170.162.114 06:12, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
