Taxinomy[]

According to canon, specifically Ode to Spot, the housecat's taxonomic nomenclature is felis catus.AyalaofBorg 10:26, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Targs[]

The Klingons had a animal that is similar to a cat, called a "Targ". 205.240.146.116 01:15, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually, the Targ is similar to that of a pig/dog rather than a cat. ;) - Enzo Aquarius 02:24, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, you are both right. Their appearance is that of a pig/dog, but they are referred to as similar to a cat. From "Where No One Has Gone Before" when Worf sees his pet Targ:
WORF: "From home, my pet... ... but when I was a child!"
TASHA: "You're telling us that's a kittycat?"
WORF: "Yes, I suppose that's what you..."
So yes, similar to a cat. --OuroborosCobra talk 02:34, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Well, The Klingons have the word vIghro', which refers to an animal on Qo'noS that is described as similar to a cat. Those who speak Klingon in the "real world" often use this word to refer to all feline animals for lack of a better known word in the language. I suppose that the vIghro' would be better suited here than the targ, since the targ was only like a cat as it was kept as a pet. However, a "vIghro'" has never been seen or refered to on screen as far as I know, so I'm not sure of whether or not it needs mentioning in this article (it is cannon in the Klingon tongue regardless, however).--El Payaso Malo70.128.46.184 04:47, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Removed[]

Cats generally have a strong dislike for Dogs which tend to enjoy chasing them up Trees. (At least on Earth they do anyway.)

Changed[]

Changed titles to remove "sentient" and use intelligent instead as those referenced were all sentient. --Neo.trident (talk) 09:50, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
