Setaurian[]
I believe that this animal may actually have been called a "Setaurian" slug, as in Seti-Alpha V, possibly its planet of origin. They appear to be the same animal used by Khan for mind control pourposes. Just a thought, maybe something to look for when I see the new one again. Will68.32.207.38 17:27, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, Ceti-Alpha. It would seem that entering through the ears or the mouth might produce the same result; being close enough to the brain to have influence over it. Maybe putting them into the ear produces a greater amount of mind control than putting them into the mouth. It just seems like the two animals are too similar and the name could be easily misheard. - The Centaurian slug resembles the parasitic beings that attempt to infiltrate Starfleet Command as part of a conspiracy in the 24th century, as depicted in TNG: "Conspiracy", but it seems to lack the sentience of those parasites. It shares the neural parasites' propensity of entering its victim's body through the mouth. The slug however doesn't attach itself to the upper vertebrae of the spinal column.
- The practical effect of the Centaurian slug more closely resembles that of an immature Ceti eel, though the Centaurian slug was much larger than the immature eel and did not physically resemble the adult eel. Ceti eels are established as also producing their effect by wrapping around the cerebral cortex instead of the brain stem.
