Memory Alpha

Memory Alpha Reference[]

Surely the memory alpha referenced in the comic would be the library planet seen in TOS, rather than the wikia site?

Not when it has the dash in it. Besides, the writers used memory-alpha often as a resource. — Morder 12:31, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Rubbish, how can you argue that because it has a dash in it, it must be a real life fan Wiki rather than the in universe database it was named after?! Corrected.86.18.176.24 21:53, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Not quite corrected, I'm afraid. We're not talking "in-universe" here, we're talking about the intention of the writers. Since we know for a fact that the writers used Memory Alpha as a resource, it is most likely a nod to this site as well as a reference to the Memory Alpha referenced in "The Lights of Zetar". I will try to find out whether or not the dash was intentionally placed as a nod to the Wiki. Now, as far as "in-universe" goes, of course it's a reference to the planetoid; that's not the issue here. By the way, the in-universe Memory Alpha is a planetoid and library complex, not merely a database. Corrected. :) --From College with Love
I think its a bit of a reach that they were referencing us rather than the canonical Memory Alpha, at least without a citation to that effect:
  • This issue contains a nod to this site, Memory Alpha, and, in turn, a reference to its namesake. While Nero is going through the Enterprise database, a monitor shows that he is denied access to several subjects, including "Memory-Alpha". The reference contains a dash, as seen in this site's URL (memory-alpha.org). Memory Alpha (the site) was used by Star Trek writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman while researching for the movie. [1]
