Real world beach
Just a note of interest. I am from near the Gilgo Beach on Long Island and I remember as a teen being astounded that it got mentioned in DS9, but I can say with certitude that the beach in the show is NOT the on on Long Island. It definitely looks West Coast US with the large sand area and the big rock formations. Gilgo Beach, NY is a small strip with lots of dune vegetation. Interestingly though, Google searches seem to indicate that there is no other place on Earth with that name, so I assume maybe one of the Trek crew had some connection to the Long Island area. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.77.243.234.
