Qatai[]

Qatai from "Bliss" might also be a Malon, though not referenced as such in episode.

Other Malon[]

Has Voyager ever shown any Malon that aren't involved in the waste extraction industry? (Maybe officials on Malon Prime?) It would be good to show a picture of one of them (if one has been shown) for contrast, comparing what the toll of a life as a waste extraction officer does to an average Malon. --The Time Traveller 22:21, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Range[]

The Malon's dumping operations appear to to cover quite an impressive range of space. Voyager's first encounter with them, in "Night," occurs over 20,000 light years removed (give or take 2,000 covered by vortex) from their last encounter in "Juggernaut." Voyager traversed much of the intervening distance using a stolen transwarp coil in "Dark Frontier." --Josh 67.241.11.104 13:22, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

True, but what is your purpose in stating that? "Night" established that the Malon intentionally look for dumping grounds far away from their home, and will make use of wormholes or whatever to do so.--31dot 18:40, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree it shouldn't really be mentioned in the article, but it is a little strange how they could have traveled so far. It would have taken Voyager about 25 years to travel that distance without slipstream drive ("Timeless") and transwarp ("Dark Frontier"). How did the much less technologically advanced Malon cover this distance? It's true that they have an established motive for wanting to travel that far afield, but there's no obvious method by which they *could* have traversed these distances. Maybe they made use of a disused Vaadwuar subspace corridor? --Andorian Blues 20:13, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

The waste export industry has resisted efforts to develop cleaner technologies?[]

Redarding this edit to the "the waste export industry has resisted efforts to develop cleaner technologies" part: Unless I'm missing something, all we know from "Night" is that one captain of one ship in resisted efforts to develop cleaner technologies. We know nothing of the industry as a whole. For all we know, the industry as a whole would love nothing better ten to develop cleaner technologies. Speculation?[]

Waste exporters seem to be respected for keeping the homeworld clean. As most of the population are likely not damaged by radiation due to the clean homeworld, the skin damage may be regarded with respect by the general population.

I'm tempted to remove the above background note as being speculation. Thoughts? --| TrekFan Open a channel 16:16, April 19, 2015 (UTC)

The first sentence might not be. The second absolutely is 100% the kind of speculation that should be removed. Since the first sentence is pretty useless without the second, I've deleted both. -- Capricorn (talk) 17:13, April 19, 2015 (UTC)

That's exactly what I was thinking, hence my hesitation in removing it. But that sounds good to me! --| TrekFan Open a channel 17:20, April 19, 2015 (UTC)
