Huh?
Maybe I've just lost my mind, but I don't think there's any doubt that Marple was killed in this episode. He gets hit with a rock and is dragged into the hut, yes, but later in the episode, isn't he clubbed once more, leading to his death? He's lying on the ground. Kirk, Spock and McCoy stand over him, looking distressed, and Landon kneels down and touches him on the back. Surely if he weren't dead, there would have been some immediacy to trying to revive him. - I think he was killed in the attack, just as you say, and for the same reasons you've listed. Moreover, when Marple is on the ground lifeless, Spock says something like: "The good doctor was concerned that the Vaalians achieve true human stature. I submit there is no cause for worry. They've taken the first step: they've learned to kill", surely refering to the death of Marple.--Sid-Vicious 18:59, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
